Because Ronnect is a student-only network, every social feature has to make it safer to be in, not easier to abuse. These are the safeguards we are designing to, from the first commit.
Six rules we don't negotiate on
Verified students only
Only eligible students at an approved institution can join a campus network. Every account is tied to a real email before it can see a board.
The driver approves every seat
An invitation is not a seat. Drivers see who is requesting, approve each rider, and confirm capacity before anyone is confirmed.
Consent-based connections
Sharing a ride never grants access to someone's feed. Friend requests and Ride Buddy requests are accepted, never assumed.
Privacy you control
Choose whether your plans and approximate destinations are visible to buddies, campus members, or invited participants only.
Location protection
Live location and home addresses are never exposed to a public board. Interest in an event does not reveal where you actually went.
Report and block
Harassment, unwanted invitations, suspicious accounts and unsafe behaviour are reportable in one tap, and blocks are enforced immediately.
Interest is not intent.
One of the more important design decisions: a student should be able to show that they are interested in an event without automatically revealing their precise travel plans.
So a social invitation is never a confirmed ride. Capacity, approval and eligibility stay with the driver, and the feed stays out of the trip.

When something goes wrong
Reporting is one tap from the trip, the profile and the board post. Blocks are enforced immediately, and driver eligibility, vehicle requirements and insurance stay in place regardless of how social the trip itself was.

Harassment, unwanted invitations, unsafe behaviour or a suspicious account.
Block
Blocked students can never see your posts, message you, or ride with you.
Escalate
Safety reports are reviewed by the campus network, not automated away.
